Eric Clapton has stated that he will not perform at venues that need COVID vaccinations.
Eric Clapton, a legendary guitarist, announced on Wednesday that he will not perform in any place that demands audience members to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
"Following the Prime Minister's declaration on Monday, July 19th, 2021, I feel obligated to make my own: I wish to state that I will not play on any platform where there is a prejudiced audience present," Clapton said.
He was alluding to a statement made by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who said that beginning in September, people would be required to provide confirmation of COVID-19 vaccines in order to enter events and nightclubs.
Clapton made his comment via the social media accounts of Robin Monotti Graziadei, a London-based Italian architect and film director who has consistently spoken out against vaccinations.
Clapton stated in May that he had a "severe" response to the AstraZeneca vaccination and was concerned that he would "never perform again." He also stated that another singer turned anti-vaccine campaigner, Van Morrison, influenced him.
